Year 4 Viking Day

The children had an amazing visit from Kathryn at the History Van which helped them to learn all about the Vikings and their way of lfe.  We have found out that there was so much more to them than just being savage fighters.  They were farmers and craftsmen who wished to settle in Britain and start a new life.  The children took part in lots of activities throughout the day exploring Viking culture and working as archaeologists to interpret evidence. The day concluded with a Viking burial. They learned many key facts including the truth about the horns you see on Viking helmets.  Ask the children to explain the mix-up!
